Join Sian at her studio in south east Cornwall for a delightful morning exploring natural colour, finding inspiration from nature and learning simple tried and tested recipes and methods for creating colour on cloth.
During the three hour workshop, from 10.30 until 1.30, we will work as a small group (maximum 4 participants) introducing the processes and methods needed to prepare and mordant fabric, use historical dyes to create swatches on silk and cotton and also learn how to modify colour with adjuncts.
This course is suitable for beginners and requires no specialist knowledge.
The working studio is located in Lostwithiel, south east Cornwall, accessible by train (5 minuites walk from a mainline railway station), and by car (local parking available). Lostwithiel is an ancient stannary town, dating back to the 12th century, and has plentiful cafes and shops to browse, as well as the historic Restormel Castle managed by English Heritage and Duchy Nursery less than a mile away.
The fee includes refreshments and all materials (please bring an old shirt or apron.)
