Handmade in small batches in Cornwall, UK, Winter Weld I is dyed on 100% Organic English Silk using WELD (Reseda luteola). Weld has been used for dying cloth for thousands of years and is the oldest known European dye plant. When combined with Iron (Fe), a beautiful olive green is made.
*Arashi style shibori markings evoke the landscape and weather of Cornwall, with unique  ripples and lines hinting at tides and gentle rain. *Arashi = Storm (Japanese)

Each piece of ribbon is 5 cm wide, and 1 metre in length, wrapped around a sustainable Oak wood dowel length, and presented with a beautiful card detailing the limited edition number.
Our inspiration for this organic silk is the beaches and landscape of south east Cornwall, the gentle tidal markings at Polridmouth Beach and the shadows and lightplay in the surrounding trees.
