Lancaster & Cornish offer in person and online workshops to fill your life with colour and fun. Founder Sian Cornish teaches in an informative but informal manner, demystefiying the process of plant dyeing, and encouraging you to explore your own creativity through natural colour, and connections to the landscape.
Join me at Thyme England for a series of short workshops in their beautiful classroom, as I reveal the secrets to beautiful, lasting colour from plants transferred to silk ribbons.
Conversations around colour and landscape are interwoven into the course, as you learn tried and tested methods to prepare fabrics for natural dyeing, the mordanting process, creating a dye bath and making samples from traditional plant dyes. We will also cover simple shibori techniques to create texture and pattern. Students create a series of beautiful silk ribbons in plain and shibori patterns to take away.
